gallery space is easy you can go from one painting to another.

They are arranged by different
groupings .

They all have to do with the theme pop art

The artworks are different because each one has its own
unique feature that distinguishes itself for another.

artworks framed?
Different artworks had different frames. The frames usually
went along with the work.

artworks identified and labeled?
All the artworks are identified by a white label.

proximity of the artwork to each other?
The works are in proximity of each other by
3-5 ft
Step 4: Art Criticism Exercise
First
work is by Nicholas Krushneick called
Lotus Europa, 1969 Acrylic on canvas.
Description – I see different
shapes and colors.
Formal analysis – Line- you can
see the lines and it looks like a staircase
Color- the orange and blue really
stood out
Pattern- it looked like stair cases
Movement- It had an upward movement
Bracketing - When I look at it I see a
staircase
Interpretation
-I think the artist was trying to say that there are stair cases everywhere and
can lead you anywhere.
Second work is by George Segal , Cinema, 1963. Plaster,
illuminated Plexiglas, and metal.
Description- I see a bright sign and a man holding a letter
to a cinema sign
Formal analysis,
Color – the bright red stands out.
Line- shows the different titles that can be on the sign and
the shape of it.
Value- show the balance of light and dark.
Bracketing- this reminds me of the old days when cinema just
started.
Interpretation -to show how popular cinemas were.
Third work is by tom Wesselmann, Bedroom Painting #40 ,1978,
oil on canvas
Description – the colors really caught my eye and the women’s
face.
Formal analysis
Color- the bright colors in the picture.
Line – the show the outline of the background.
Movement – you first focus on her face and then move around
the picture.
Bracketing- a women
laying on her bed with.
Interpretation- wants to show a women smiling lying on her
bed with the window open
Step 5: Document Your
Visit
What did you think of visiting the Gallery and purposefully
looking at the exhibition from a different perspective - the physical space,
the architecture, theme.
It was a lot different visiting the Albright Knox art
gallery and looking at it from a different perspective. You kind of have to step back and look at
everything. Also you start noticing different things like the lighting and the
frames of the artworks. All in all it
was a great experience.
