1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you
choose from the selection listed above.
I chose both of these films because I wanted to know more
about them and both concepts were a huge part of the art world during the early
20th century.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
For the Cubism video it shows the major impact cubism had on
the art world during the early 20th century. Famous works came of it like Juan Gris: The
Breakfast Table or Picasso’s Les Demoiselle de
Avignon.
For the Expressionism film it shows how expressionism took
art to a whole other level. Art and
colors were used to express deep emotions. Like Edward Munch: Ashes or his
other work The Scream. He did those works to show a very deep emotion and one
of his exhibitions in Berlin was closed because people were outraged at his
work.
3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The videos help explain and show examples for the
readings. The video also goes more in
depth and you can see visually how topics in the reading are depicted in real
life.
4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth
to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
Both films were good they went in depth in explaining both concepts , Cubism and
Expressionism. They showed examples of
many works.
